titre: A Day Gone Wrong

You might know the story that I mention a few posts back. Well, here is a quarter of the first chapter. Thought I share it to you.

The weather wasn’t so nice that day.

The rain was pouring hard from the ash-colored afternoon sky and the wind was unusually strong, making the old cedar trees outside billow less than gently. A girl looked out of the office window to watch students frantically running in the rain. Some of them opening their umbrellas hastily, creating a myriad of multi-colored parade that contrasted the dullness of the day, and some placed their books over their heads, ignoring the fact that their teacher might fuss over their soaking references. She could have been there outside, but she was stuck inside the most boring room existing in Glass Meadow High School waiting for Mrs. Shaw to come and “counsel” her.

The lighting strike bright, flashing a blinding light on the large square windows of the Guidance Office, followed by a thunder that somehow muted the noisy chatter of the students in the hallway. The girl sighed, twirling her auburn locks in a mixture of ennui and frustration. She wanted to feel just fine but the weather didn’t seem to help in cheering herself. She was, after all, standing on the edge of a mountain called her life. After this talk, she might find herself falling from that mountain and sinking into the abyss; the reputation she worked hard for years was jeopardized a few hours ago. She found it anything but inviting.

The noisy sliding of the glass door brought her back from the trance she gotten herself into a while ago. She looked sideways to see a middle-aged woman, her hair tied in a strict bun, standing in front of the door and smiling gently at her. When the guidance councilor smiled at you, it means that you’re in big trouble. The girl decided not to smile back.

Ignoring her sullen response, Mrs. Shaw made her way to her table and took a piece of paper and a pen from her drawer. The girl in front of her took a sharp breath as the feline-looking councilor clicked her pen loudly.

“Good day, Ms. Cooper,” she started, smiling. “It seems that you’re not here to receive merits for your academic excellence today.”

The girl gaped at her. Of course she isn’t.

“Maxine Elizabeth Cooper,” Mrs. Shaw said clearly, obviously calling her attention. It was one of the rare times when people acknowledge her real name. “I have received reports from Coach Hall about your little fist fight with your co-captain. Is that true?”

Max didn’t respond; she was too stunned and disappointed to repeat everything that happened a while ago. She curled her lip, revealing a patch of dried blood on the corner of her mouth. The councilor frowned, taking Max’s gesture as a valid answer.

“I see,” Mrs. Shaw said briskly, scribbling something on her paper. “Is it also true that you punched Shelby Grace first?”

It was true that she made the first move. She could still remember how she marched towards the softball field, a crumpled piece of paper on her hand, and made her way towards a blond girl she despised so greatly.

“What the hell is this, Shelby?” she said crossly, shoving the paper hard on Shelby’s chest. The force was strong that Shelby had to retreat several steps to balance herself; the sudden outburst made the blonde before her equally mad.

“I’m not bluffing, Cooper. Just so you know I had researched it myself before I made my statements to the school paper,” Shelby said trying to maintain her composure, but the contempt in her voice was evident. She suddenly flipped her blond locks to dismiss the subject. “Now go and run along with your mental issues.”

But before Shelby could make another gesture, Max already flung herself at her, hitting her squarely on the nose, Shelby’s words still ringing like a gong struck on her head. The field suddenly turned into a wrestling ring. Students started to gather around, circling them and cheering for their bets. Max was not surprised by the growing enthusiasm of the people around her since they were waiting for this to happen for a long time. She and Shelby were destined to be rivals for the rest of their lives; they were the bane of each other’s existence. They always found themselves competing against each other from Chemistry Olympiads to Softball captaincy, but it was always Max who finished first place much to Shelby’s chagrin. Because of this, Shelby did everything to tarnish Max’s good reputation, accusing her of different things. But this time, she definitely jumped the shark.

“Max…” Mrs. Shaw said a little louder, “If you want to end this discussion, you must answer my questions truthfully…and completely, okay?”

“Okay,” Max said quietly. She felt her mouth drying from hours of keeping her mouth shut. It was quite relieving to say something, but she had to keep her cool. “Sorry.”

“So, why did you punch your friend again?”

She lied; she couldn’t tell the councilor about the reason truthfully and completely. Truth be told, the issue hurt her so much that she can’t keep her temper anymore. It was her first time to lose control that she had to punch someone to relieve her. Anyway, if she would tell Mrs. Shaw about it, she might drop enough F-Bombs to gain a month’s worth of detention.

Max reached for the pockets of her green jacket and took a folded piece of paper out. It was the article written about her by the Gossip Herald, the gossip column no one once cared about until they decided to write something so tragic and so personal. Mrs. Shaw carefully unfolded the paper to reveal an article violently ripped off its original place. In the paper plastered Max’s smiling face while holding a championship cup a year ago. She perused the tattered article quietly.

The Secret Behind Max Cooper

It seems that our golden girl isn’t as perfect as we perceived her to be.

Over the course of the summer I passed by the newly built Paper Company building along the Rain Crescent Drive. It was once the address of an orphanage five years ago. It also happened to be the former refuge of Max Cooper before she was adopted by the Judge family. I was thoroughly interested of how Max kept up with her life as an orphan that I went to different people for an interview. Among the people who volunteered to share us a story was a concerned Shelby Grace, the mayor’s daughter and Max’s rival, or should we say friend?

“Being the mayor’s daughter, I have an unlimited and legal access to the records of Glass Meadow. I was browsing through the records of Rain Crescent Drive and saw a documented incident about the orphanage’s tragic fate. I’m really sorry for what happened…it must have been hard to cope with the loss of your loved ones. This might had driven Max on the edge of sanity. ” she said.

According to the records, Max Cooper was the only one who survived the fire, disappearing from the scene just minutes before the firemen arrived six years ago. It was also believe that she was the one who started the fire, due to the depression she was undertaking due to the bitter loss of her biological parents and her best friend, Nathan Townsend. The terrifying part is that her personal record indicated that she’s possibly hasn’t recuperated from the depression she had undergone when she was a little girl.

Keep her away from all the sad music, Juliet Judge. She might start having fits and burn your house down while you’re in your sleep.

“I’m sorry for the insensitivity of the topic, I’ll make sure this will be noted and I will talk to Tina about this.” Mrs. Shaw finally spoke, taking down notes hysterically. “Is it okay for me to keep this as documentation?”

“Do whatever you want, “Max said, rolling her eyes. “And yes, I was really offended by that accusation. They don’t know how much I had to keep up when I was young. They don’t know how it feels when my mom died and my father left me, when my friend just disappeared during my birthday. Then they’re going to accuse me for burning my second family? Damn her.”

“Max!” She said, looking alarmed. “Be mindful of your words. I don’t accept swearing in my office.”

Max shrugged, looking down to avoid Mrs. Shaw’s cat-like eyes. She swore she could she could see her eyes darken like deep wells. Between the guidance councilor’s heavy breathing and the awkward silence that filled the room, she decided to stay mum and proceeded on fumbling with the laces of her jacket. The silence broke when Mrs. Shaw clicked her pen furiously and started writing something again. Max felt a lump in her throat; what could she be writing, anyway?

“Okay, this is what we’re going to do. You’re going to serve detention tomorrow morning. You can help the Journalism club in arranging the papers in the library.”

Max’s mouth hanged open and she started to laugh. Mrs. Shaw raised her eyebrows.

“But that’s impossible. Mrs. Shaw. You see…we have softball practice.”

“Oh, you’re not a part of the Softball team anymore.”

“What?” Max said, as if she needed second telling. Mrs. Shaw repeated her previous statement impatiently, handing her a formal letter that she should give her parents when she gets home. Max unfolded the paper to see a letter regarding the incident, with a transfer slip attached on it. Her mouth hanged open and her shoulders stiffened.

“This isn’t happening.” She said, shaking her head furiously in disbelief.

“I’m sorry, but yes it is,” Mrs. Shaw said kindly, her eyes reflecting a twinge of sympathy for the perplexed girl sitting right in front of her. Max opened her mouth but words didn’t escape roll off her tongue. “I think it was best for you to separate from Shelby. Let’s call this ‘taking one for the team’.”

Max frowned; she wanted to cry and trash the whole room at the same time. She couldn’t imagine how different yesterday was from today. Yesterday, she was so excited to go to school again, smiling triumphantly at her brand-new captain uniform. Today, she was sitting in front of Mrs. Shaw reading a letter that would put everything she worked hard for down the drain, the stinking drain. She wanted to retort, she wanted to persuade Mrs. Shaw of the valid reason why she did it. But it wasn’t a valid reason, she thought bitterly. Violence doesn’t solve anything, as Juliet always says to her when she hears Max threaten Shelby under her breath. Max regretted ignoring Juliet’s words of wisdom; she felt a painful knot in her stomach as she waved a tearful good bye to Mrs. Shaw.

I know I'm not a good writer, and of course, it needs a mansion for improvement. Atleast, cut me some slack. I'm just bored and I don't what to do with my life. But writing makes me happy and relaxed.

titre: Do you know that dolphins are just gay sharks?

WTF.

I feel like I just woke up from the wrong side of my bed. Just WTF. Pagkagising ko, badtrip na ako. Wala nga akong panaginip e. Parang kahapon lang ang ganda ganda (oo, ganda ganda talaga) ng panaginip ko tapos ngayon wala akong matandaan! Ugh. Tapos ang init pa. Feeling ko mamamatay ako sa init. Imagine mo yun? AKO NAMATAY SA INIT. Ang weak lang. Pwede pa sana kung mamamatay ako dahil kinain ako ng crocodile.

SCHOOL OF ROCK.

On the lighter note of things, napanuod ko na yung School of Rock. And I must say, fave movie! Just from watching it, I wanted to learn an instrument (probably learn to play the drums better). Woah, as in. I fell in love with all those legends in rock (Led Zeppelin, The Ramones, KISS, AC/DC, Stevie Nicks, The Runaways, etc). Ang ganda pala ng Rock and Roll All Nite ng KISS and Slowride ng Foghat (both playable in Guitar Hero III: legends of Rock). Then yung My Brain is Hanging Upside Down ng The Ramones, Edge of Seventeen ni Stevie Nicks, Highway to Hell ng AC/DC, Cherrybomb ng The Runaways, then Touch me ng The Doors (maganda rin yung Hello, I love you nila, swear! ). Then idol ko na si Freddy Jones, ang galing niya magdrums! :">

Well, despite the fact that he's more beautiful than his fangirl population, crush ko na siya. :)))))))))))

GLEE.

Di pa ako nakakapanood ng new episode. Nonetheless, I would like to express my sentiments on the following things:

* Despite the fact that 3/4 of the fans already joined the Jesse/Rachel bandwagon, I'm still a hardcore Rachel/Finn shipper. But dude, Finn needs to do something to get her back. I mean, she pined over him for the rest of the year then he became all douchey and kind of took her for granted. But he was too late when he realized that the only thing that he needs to fix in his life was his relationship with her, since Rachel already had this rendezvous affair with the Vocal Adrenaline ~~drama queen~~ Golden boy, Jesse St. James. I'm looking forward to Finn's rendition of Jessie's Girl though. :)

* I don't like what's happening with Puck. I know that half of his badass-ness is coming from his womanazing demeanor, but boy needs to change his ways because he's not this single teenager stud anymore. He has, afterall, a baby on the way. According to Ryan Murphy, Noah Puckerman will hook up with almost all the girls in the show (yes, sige pakasaya kayo puckleberry). Kawawa naman si Quinn kasi parang mag-asawa na sila (it is implied by Mark Salling that Quinn already lives with Puck's family, so yep). Maybe it's the girl in me, but I don't want Quinn to regret her decision to trust Puck her life and her future. Puck needs to change stat while still, you know, fun to watch.

* Too many guest stars, my god. I hate it. You can call me trolling but I wanted more screen time for the original characters. The only thing that's wrong with the show is that it tends to shove some characters aside (Mike and Matt, anyone?). I don't know if they're doing that on purpose since favoritism is a common touchy subject in high school, but still... needs more Tina and Artie singing. I miss Artie's RNB voice. :/

* Sueee! She's the reason why I loved the Madonna episode. Vogue is one epic shit.

* I hope they don't overuse Brittany's stupidity. lol. You know, her lines are funny and all but when they just pull it every episode it starts to get stupid and awkward.

So after ending my rant, i hope I don't discourage people from watching Glee since GLEE IS THE MOST AWESOME THING THAT HAPPENED IN ~~ILLEGAL DOWNLOADS~~ AMERICAN TV! I'm just trying to say the things that I don't like, since everyone is entitled to say his or her opinions, okay? You might want something that i don't, or dislike the things that I tend to flail over. But I know that I enjoy Glee immensely and set aside the fandom aside since canon rocks. I know you would, too. :D

HUNGER GAMES.

One of the great post-apocalyptic young-adult novel that I have read! It's about Katniss Everdeen, a teenager whose struggle in Panem ( a world built from the ashes of old America and is divided by 12 districts with decreasing wealth), became a matter of life and death when she volunteered to join the Hunger Games in exchange of her younger sister, Prim.

The Hunger Games is an annual game hosted by the government where they pick a boy and a girl from each district to be trapped in the most unusual place for survival. And when i say survival is that they have to kill each other to save their butts and win the grand prize. Only one could reign supreme. Like BATTLE ROYALE and LORD OF THE FLIES in one book. LOL.

Katniss thought things would be easy since she was a skilled hunter (she hunts food for her family to eat), but was stunned when she discovered that her fellow tribute from District 12 was Peeta Mellark, a boy who helped her live years ago by giving her food despite his mother's beatings. And when Peeta admitted his love for her on TV, Katniss thought it was all just for show so that he could get more sympathy for the viewers. But was it all just a strategy?

Let the Hunger Games begin.

titre: Through the Monsoon

So I was browsing this Bill Kaulitz Tumblr when I came across this live performance of Tokio Hotel during the MTV EMA awards last 2007. They're performing their single 'Monsoon' after winning an award.

Then I was like, WTF. Ang daming nag'boo' sa umpisa. I mean, come on, it's hard to play in front of a live audience that resents your presence. I don't know why they did that but I know most people disliked TH because of Bill's appearance (he's actually a manly man, JSYK. 'Syang daw ang mga fangirls sa concerts'). So when Bill started singing, everyone went silent. I also have to comment their showmanship and, goodness, Bill sound great live (something that I rarely find these days where people sounded better recorded).

Then during the last part of ther performance, rain started to fall violently on the stage. Panalo. =)))). Ang galing din ni Gustav magdrums, as in super carried away siya sa pagddrums (which is really helpful). And then during the one, may nagboo ba? La diba? PWNED.

titre: She should have told him she loved him.

This is my second fic rec so bear with me.

A while ago I was browsing through Harry Potter Fanfiction dot com when I stumbled upon this precious little gem of a fanfiction. It was set during the Marauder's era (a favorite era of mine), and centers on the ship Sirius/OC. Well, Sirius didn't have any love interests mentioned in the book so I was curious and tend to read fics about it.

By the way, remember this passage in the Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix, "Snape's worst memory"?

"Sirius was lounging in his chair at his ease, tilting it back on two legs. He was very good-looking; his dark hair fell into his eyes with a sort of casual elegance neither James' nor Harry's could ever have achieved, and a girl sitting behind him was eyeing him hopefully, though he didn't seem to have noticed."

The fic centers around the girl behind Sirius that time, Ivy Bennett. (Summary: Ivy Bennett was that girl eyeing Sirius Black during their Defense Against the Dark Arts exam. She didn't mean to do it - in fact, she doesn't even like Sirius in that way. She was glad that he never noticed her. She's not one of those girls who fawns over him day and night, waiting on his hand and foot to be his next girl.)

It may sound like a plain fluff to you but I swear, it is a good read (and not fluffy at all). The characters are not OOC and the flow of the story is smooth and spontaneous . I swore I teared up a little when I finished reading it. It has a mixture of romance, friendship, drama and comedy.The story gave me a sinking feeling of wanting something you could never achieve, chances, and of course, puberty. You will be thoroughly surprised by the turn of events and the twists up on its sleeve. And you know what, after reading this, I feel like my creative muses went 100% and I'm itching to write HP fanfiction again.

You should really give it a try! :)
